6' DuraTech Cathedral Ceiling Support Kit - DT620-KIT

The 6" DuraTech Cathedral Ceiling Support Kit contains all the components needed to install a 6" chimney (excluding black stove pipe and DuraTech chimney sections) straight up through a cathedral ceiling. This kit includes the following: (from the cap down) 6" DuraTech Rain Cap 6" DuraTech Storm Collar 6" DuraTech Square Ceiling Support Box - Options available, see below 6" DuraTech Flashing - Options available,

The purpose of chimney pipe is to remove harmful byproducts of the combusted, or burned, fuel from inside your home. If the byproducts are not properly ventilated from inside the home, then you can have a dangerous buildup of carbon monoxide.

DuraTech is a double-wall, all-fuel chimney system for use with wood stoves, fireplaces, furnaces, boilers, ranges, water heaters, or other appliances fueled by wood, oil, coal, or gas, and zero-clearance fireplaces that are factory-built.

DuraTech chimney pipe is designed with a thermal tech blanket insulation encased between dual walls, DuraTech offers the optimum in safety and performance. It keeps the outer wall of the chimney cool while ensuring high flue gas temperatures for optimum draft performance. The inner wall is 25% thicker than competitive chimneys for an extra margin of safety. No locking bands or mechanical fasteners required. DuraTech's sleek 1" wall design provides for easy installations through 16" on-center framing. Designed for normal, continuous operation at 1000°F flue gas temperatures, DuraTech is subjected to rigorous and stringent high temperature requirements of the UL standard, including one hour at 1400°F, plus three ten-minute chimney fire test at 2100°F.

The 6" DuraTech Cathedral Ceiling Support Kit is a top-rated customer pick and preferred by professional installers.

    Materials and Construction

    • .020'' 430 stainless steel inner wall
    • .016'' 430 stainless steel or .021'' galvalume steel outer wall options
    • Thermal Tech (ceramic refractory) blanket insulation encased between walls
    • Stainless steel end rings to seal the pipe
    • Light weight insulation, twist-lock fittings, support boxes with factory installed starter sections

The 6" DuraTech Cathedral Ceiling Support Kit contains all the components needed to install a 6" chimney (excluding black stove pipe and DuraTech chimney sections) straight up through a cathedral ceiling.

    How it works:

The chimney system allows your stove or fireplace to exhaust flue gases while a draft creates the draw that pulls fresh combustion air into the stove. A well-balanced system provides an even, hot fire when it has good draft. The draft suction keeps smoke from coming into the room. Insulation in the chimney pipe is important because it helps keep the exhaust hot until it is expelled outside. Heat in the chimney makes draft, which pulls in more combustion air. This creates a hotter fire, delivering more heat to the chimney, resulting in more draft. The size of the flue is important for the system to work efficiently. The appliance manufacturers installation instructions will indicate how to size the flue to match the stoves flue collar. Stovepipe connects to the stove. It is the usually black interior pipe that transitions from the stove to the chimney pipe with an adapter. It is not insulated and cannot penetrate ceilings or walls. Chimney pipe is an insulated pipe that is rated to pass through walls and ceilings. In addition to the chimney pipe, supports to hold the system in place, and shields to protect areas from combusting, are needed for the system. The flashing, storm collar and chimney cap are required to seal the system from moisture penetration.

This kit includes the following: (from the cap down)

Diagram for 6'' DuraTech Cathedral Ceiling Support Kit

6" DuraTech Chimney Caps are required where the pipe terminates above the roofline. This DuraTech Chimney Cap is made of stainless steel and designed to twist-lock on to the chimney pipe. Removable screws allow for cleaning of the chimney and the spark arrestor screen. Shown with optional spark arrestor screen (sold separately).

6" DuraTech Storm Collars are aluminum constructed chimney components that slip around the pipe just above the flashing used in through-the-roof installations. The inner edge of the Storm Collar is sealed to the chimney pipe with a non-hardening 500 degree F high-temperature sealant.

6" DuraTech Square Ceiling Support Boxes are used to support chimney pipe and provide a positive connection between the support box and the chimney pipe with a built-in twist lock feature. This ceiling support is suitable for both flat and cathedral ceiling applications and it can also be used in short attic spaces. Designed for appliances that are tested and listed for use with a 2100 Degree F HT chimney system, such as woodstoves, fireplaces, furnaces, boilers, stoves, ranges, water heaters, or other appliances fueled by wood, oil, coal, or gas. This Ceiling support fits between 16" on center joists and most mobile home applications and supports up to 60' of DuraTech Chimney. A 2" wide trim collar is included.

6" DuraTech Roof Flashings are used to weather proof the penetration of chimney pip through the roof. A storm collar is required (not included). Select the proper roof flashing based on the pitch of the roof. For example, a 6/12 pitch has a vertical rise of 6" over a horizontal distance of 12".

6" DuraTech Stove Pipe Adapters are required to connect the stove pipe to the chimney pipe and there are several options to choose from depending on your requirements.

    • Slip Connector - Item Number 6DBK-SC - Use to connect DuraBlack single wall stove pipe to the ceiling support box. Use the slip connector if you do not have any other adjustable stove pipe length between your stove and support box. This adapter will provide a 3" to 13" slip fitting without having to cut pipe for a perfect fit. Only connects to rigid DuraBlack stove pipe, and cannot be used with telescoping pipe lengths.

    • DuraBlack Chimney Adapter - Item Number 6DVL-ADC - This adapter is recommended to connect DuraBlack single-wall stove pipe to DuraPlus or DuraTech chimney pipe if you do not require adjustability in your stove pipe height. You can also use this adapter to connect DVL double-wall stove pipe to DuraPlus or DuraTech chimney.

    • Snap Lock Adapter - Item Number 6DBK-ADSL - Snaps into your ceiling support box or finishing collar and extends down to fit into the stovepipe. Provides a drip-free connection to DuraTech, DuraPlus, DuraPlus HTC chimney pipe or DuraLiner chimney liner.

    • DVL Adapter - Item Number 6DVL-ADT - Use to connect from double-wall DVL to DuraTech, DuraPlus, DuraPlus HTC, and DuraLiner for a through-the-wall or ceiling support installation. Required for proper connection. Provides a strong mechanical connection. Painted black.

Optional extended roof bracket is required when your chimney extends more than 5' above the roof. It will provide stability to the chimney against wind and snow
