It pictures Astronaut Young leaping from the lunar surface as he gives his proud salute to the United States flag at the Descartes landing site during the first Extravehicular Activity or the EVA-1. This photo was captured by Astronaut Charles M. Duke Jr., the lunar module pilot. Stone Mountain takes the background of this lunar scene, with the Lunar Module or LM "Orion" is on the left side of the picture and the Lunar Roving Vehicle parked beside the LM. The Far Ultraviolet Camera/Spectrograph sits behind Young, taking the shade of the LM.
