The Bear Flag is the official state flag of California and features a white field with a red star in the upper left corner and a left-facing grizzly bear walking on a patch of green grass in the center. A red stripe along the bottom completes the design. The red 5-point star that appears on the design is said to be taken from the California Lone Star Flag of 1836.
